I'm also on a very slow path to self acceptance of my body as it is, Sam is helping with that too by debunking so many myths of diet culture. I take good care of my body by eating well, not depriving myself, and working out, but I may not see the beauty I feel was there in my youth. I'm trying very hard to recognize that conventional beauty standards are harmful for everyone and that there is beauty at all ages and sizes.

Because I was not only physically “down” but emotionally as well, the program has helped me reconnect with concepts that I knew but hadn’t embraced in a while and certainly wasn’t living! It helped me regain confidence in who I am at my core more than what my body looks like (although I’ve regained confidence in that too). Things that surprised me was how hard it was at the beginning to tell myself I was beautiful or that I loved myself.

I now put my health and wellbeing as my #1 priority and I unapologetically set aside time each day for movement. I have a positive and refreshed outlook on life and have the tools and mindset to stay healthy and active as I age. I am no longer isolated, and have a community that I am a part of and I underestimated the importance of this piece.

To someone considering changing their health and fitness I would say, We are constantly busy and tell ourselves we’ll get healthy after X or once I finish Z, but the reality is that NOW is the right moment, even if it’s hard to imagine finding time for this program; you will and it will change your life.
